GM decided to put their new Chairman, Ed Whitacre as the spokesman of their ‘new’ way of doing business. However, instead of focusing on new products, car quality or how they plan to go green and develop new technology, they put up this old guy talking about GM’s old-school values.
A few things that stood out:
Ed says, “Before I started this job, I admit, I had some doubts..” Sure you did, Ed, you had doubts, just before they gave you a seven figure contract.
He also says “Car for car, when compared with the competition, we win, simple as that.” Really, Ed? no explanation on what you mean by “car-for-car” or what comparisons you’re making?
The only thing remotely interesting about this commercial is the fact that they are promoting a 60 day money-back guarantee if you’re not 100% satisfied. He doesn’t mention how much crap you’ll get from the sales team at the local GM dealership for even ATTEMPTING to return your slightly used GM vehicle.
